Taken 2 Review

I loved the first Taken movie and it was because of that movie that I became an even bigger Liam Neeson fan than I already was.  I enjoyed the action-packed goodness of that film and how it left you on the edge of your seat with suspense while Bryan Mills (Neeson) hunted down the people who kidnapped his daughter, found them, and then killed them.  Everything ended on a good note in the movie, until now...

Taken 2 stars Liam Neeson yet again in this equally action-packed film that follows along as Mills (a retired CIA agent) finds himself in Istanbul at first for business, but is then joined by his daughter and ex-wife to extend his work trip as a small vacation.  As soon as they arrive, the action is delivered when the father of one of the villains who had kidnapped Mill's daughter in the first movie (and who Mills had killed), is now seeking revenge for his son's death.   Mills and his ex-wife now find themselves hostages in Istanbul, while it is up to their daughter, Kim, to help them escape.

I was really hoping for this movie to be just as good as the first movie, and I was NOT disappointed!!  Taken 2 is JUST AS GOOD as the first in my opinion.  With lots of action and suspense and the clever tactics Liam Neeson uses in his character, it's an intense and enjoyable movie from start to finish.  I loved how they took a spin on the first one and reversed the roles so that it was not Kim's parents who were held hostage and she would now have the opportunity to help her dad escape, so that he can put his skills to use to ultimately rescue her mom.   I can't believe that even at the young age of 60 years old, Liam Neeson can deliver such an energetic and detailed performance as he does.  He is an incredible actor who really helps make this film an even bigger hit than it already is.

I most definitely give this movie 5 out of 5 STARS!

  1. You have really got me intrigued by this movie! Sequels are never as good as the first, but this one seems to hold it's own!

  3. This is a pretty obvious example of a sequel that’s only going for the pockets of the audience, but at least there’s still some dumb, idiotic fun to it for the time it’s on-screen. However, I do think that Neeson is getting a bit too old for these roles even though he just started it all up. Nice review Brandi.

    1. Thanks! I agree with you Dan, sequels like these want money and he's probably getting a tad bit too old for these action films lol. I do enjoy watching his acting though and love both of the Taken films...think there will be a 3rd one? haha jk :)

  4. I loved the first Taken movie too, so I am totally watching Taken 2. I can’t wait to see all action, but I think my girlfriend just wants to see Liam Neeson, lol. I told asked her to pick it up, but she cannot find anywhere that is renting it, so I’ll just grab it from Blockbuster @Home through DISH. They give me over 100,000 different choices by mail, so I never need to rely on luck or chance to find the newest movies like she does at the Redbox. And believe me, after one of my long days of work at DISH it is nice not having to spend hours finding a movie.
